I make images, I produce something because I have an omission; the image replaces, it restitutes something in us. Afterwards, that same artistic action transforms itself in something self-ruling and becomes itself a reality’s fiction – and therefore a reality itself. As Fernando Pessoa in its Book of Disquiet, I also want to live in that permanent invention of the self. My drawings are what will never be, because they only make sense as representations and they couldn’t exist in another way. I appreciate drawing as I appreciate being a demiurge at its most small scale, and with modest tools as a pencil or a brush. The forms that appear are the ones of the creatures that live in that world. Which world? The one of imagination. My objective is to transcribe every man, every animal, every rock and river of that world, consuming the desire. Nevertheless, I do know that that day will never come, because drawing, as every language, is a loss, an insufficiency. Words and images may be done and redone, and even though I’ll never be close to an end. Drawing serie.
